Yesterdays Gone

If you would have told me it was going to be 82 degrees on April fools days I would have fallen over in laughter.   Boy, was I wrong!   My feet were going to be in those giant snow mountains at the end of my driveway in August, or so I thought.   I look out my window now and can't help but smile.   I guess Mother Nature said enough is enough.

In a matter of a few short weeks we went from what seemed like 5 feet of snow and 3 feet of ice to green grass and budding plants.   The sun shinned, the snow retreated, and the rivers flowed.  Boom, spring!   Minnesota weather is usually referenced in negative way, but not this time.   You hear of how nasty winters are and how humind summer is.   When those conditions go away in the blink of an eye and beautiful weather you've been longing for is upon you is such a booster.   You don't hear me complaining!   We didn't have to wait long this year.

While raking the yard and preparing for new growth I thought of how it seemed like just yesterday I was shot putting shovel fulls of snow over my snow mountains.   After raking and preping for spring I had noticed a nice series of blisters on my thumbs.   I stared at them for a while almost in disbelief.   Raking blisters, in March this year?   I do believe those were the best blisters I have ever got.

Green pastures, blue lakes, and clear rivers!   Come on, how fantastic is that?   Spring is a time to celebrate new growth not only outside but inside as well.   Inside of us that is.   We made it through another year and I'm filled with anticipation on the new times to come.   This year, I assure you, will be filled with adventure and memories.   I got a new way of thinking.   Turns out that sunshine does wonders for your thoughts.   Yesterdays gone and tomorrows coming.   So start planning, we're going to have one heck of a time!
