I Said Never

I have shot aluminum arrows all my life, with the exception of some cedar arrows out of my recurve.   To me, there are many advantages of aluminum arrows over carbon.   From safety all the way to price.

I said I'd never do it, but I broke down and bought myself some carbons.   I figured I would give them a season and make a complete judgement.   One of my main reasons for doing this is the availability of aluminum arrow supplies.   I pretty much have to order everything, if I can find it.   They definitely are slowly being fazed out.

I found the heaviest arrows make by Carbon Express, aimed towards high penetration.   They are Pile Drivers.   I have been shooting them and do enjoy the flat shooting of carbons.   I can't help but be a bit gun shy of blemished arrows breaking.  I've known more than one archer who has had to deal with this horrible situation.

If I'm going this far in the other direction, why not go all the way?   So, I have been researching mechanical broadheads.   Yep, you heard me right.   Carbons and mechanicals!   Wow, NEVER thought I would be saying that.   I will give them a season and form a solid opinion.

I hope all goes well.   I am very sceptical.   Researching and finding the best set up for what I need was done very carefully.   Anticipation fills my veins, because I said I would never do it...

  1. Be sure to let us know. I still shoot aluminum with solid G5125 grainers and they drop deer like a cannon. But i am always open...
